Unfortunately this word « HOTEL » is disappearing. Due to the use of booking platforms and GPS, it is becoming useless.
In 2005 Alain Amiand, passionate about travel and photography, discovered that the word "HOTEL" is written the same way in all countries of the world but with an extremely varied appearance.
It did not take more to push Alain Amiand on the roads, in cars, trains, boats and planes to photograph only the word "HOTEL" (30,000 to date from about 200,000 hotels visited in 41 countries).
A former advertising photographer in luxury jewelry where his clients often called him an artist, Alain Amiand from the beginning treated his photos like works of art in order to show an unsuspected and unbelievable variety.
Following exhibitions in Museums, Art Galleries and Art Fairs, dozens of Museums in the world have acquired some of his works.
At the same time, auctions are increasing the value of Alain Amiand’s works. The latest sale of a 70x70 cm Unique Composition for €12,750 buyer’s fee included helps to get a VALUE of €20,000 for a Unique 100x100 cm. €240,000 for the maximum size of 500x240 cm with 1,127 "HOTEL" of 10x10 cm.
Alain Amiand will remain the only crazy artist in the world to have built such a large collection of the word "HOTEL" because in a few years everything he photographed will no longer exist and will not be replaced.
Fortunately he leaves us his testimony of a bygone era.
